Take your phone. Open your own website. Look at the first screen only. Do not scroll.
Now ask yourself one question. If a stranger sees this screen for five seconds will they know what you sell?
Most visitors decide very fast. They do not read your About page. They do not read your story. They look at the first screen and decide to stay or to go back.
Many websites fail here. The first screen has a big photo and a line like Welcome to our website. It looks nice. It says nothing.
You do not need a new design to fix this. Small changes are enough. Most of them can be done in one day.
Check these on your home page
- One line that says what you sell. Write it like you tell a friend. We make wedding cards in Jaipur. That is a good line.
- One clear button. Call, WhatsApp or Book now. Choose one main button and make it big.
- A page that opens fast on mobile data. Test it outside your office wifi. Test it on a normal phone.
- Your phone number where people can see it. Put it on top. People should not hunt for it.
Mistakes to avoid
- A sliding banner with five messages. Nobody waits for the fifth one
- Three buttons of the same size. The visitor does not know which one to press
- A very big logo that pushes everything down
- A popup that opens before the visitor has read anything
Here is a simple test. Show your home page to someone who does not know your business. Give them five seconds. Then close the phone and ask what you sell. If they cannot tell you then the page needs work.
Do this test every time you change the page.
What to do in the next 7 days
- Day 1: Do the five second test with three people who do not know your business.
- Day 2: Rewrite the first line of your home page in simple words.
- Day 3: Keep one main button and move the phone number to the top.
- Day 4 to 7: Check the page on mobile data and do the five second test again.
Send us your website link and we will tell you what to fix first. It is free. Message us on WhatsApp
