A customer searches your shop on Google Maps on Sunday morning.
It shows Closed. But your shop is open.
They do not call to check. They go to another shop.
You lost a customer and you never knew about it.
Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing people see. Many times they see it even before your website. The name, the photo, the rating, the timings and the phone number. People decide from that small box.
Many owners made this profile years ago and forgot it. The timings are old. The phone number is of a staff member who has left. The photos are from the opening day.
It is free and it takes 20 minutes to correct.
Check today
- Timings and holidays. Add special timings for festivals. Google lets you do that.
- Phone number and WhatsApp. Call the number yourself and see who picks up.
- Recent photos. Add photos of the shop, the products and the team.
- Replies to reviews. Thank people for good reviews. Answer bad reviews calmly.
Mistakes to avoid
- Fighting with a customer in the review replies
- Asking friends to write fake reviews
- Putting the wrong location pin on the map
- Leaving questions from customers without an answer
Ask your happy customers for a review. Ask on the same day when they are happy. Send them the direct link.
A profile with new photos and new reviews looks like a shop that is open and busy. People trust it more.
What to do in the next 7 days
- Day 1: Search your business on Google Maps like a customer would.
- Day 2: Correct the timings, the phone number and the location pin.
- Day 3: Add ten new photos.
- Day 4 to 7: Reply to every old review and ask three happy customers for a new one.
